Creating fitting deamons

A deamon is a compiled instance of TotalFit that lacks user interface and is aimed at fitting data read from disk. Main fitting session communicates with deamons using files placed in the folder where deamon was launched from. You could launch as many deamons as the cores you have available (each core on all multicore machines is counted individually). When launched from separate terminal windows, the OS farms them deamons on different cores so it is not controlled by the deamon. You may launch two deamons on one core for testing purposes.

Creating fitting deamons

Install MATLAB run-time libraries in some location [MCR-path] on your computer
To create a deamon for your job - use Deployment Tool and create a project in [IDAP-home]/deamon_compilation folder with main function TotalFit_deamon.m and code/ as source files.
Build
Add path to [IDAP-home]/deamon_compilation/totalfit_deamon_v15/distrib to a path variable in your .cshrc
For convenience add alias to .cshrc file as:
alias totalfit_deamon 'run_totalfit_deamon.sh [MCR-path]'
Load these settings---issue source ~/.cshrc

Test operation of a deamon:
totalfit_deamon 1
You should see output:

Deamon ready to accept jobs
Courtesy time out (idle or too long calculations) 1 hours

Give a signal to a deamon to exit:

hit Ctrl-z
issue bg
create signal:
ls > exit.signal
Observe deamon's exit message: Deamon exited.
NOTE: if you need to exit a running deamon (performing fitting) you need to first stop it: ls > stop.signal, then ls > exit.signal.

Copy [IDAP-home]/deamon_compilation/totalfit_deamon_v15/distrib to remote computer. You need only one copy of the code on a remote machine irrespective the number of cores it has.
Modify .cshrc on the remote machine as described above
